Why do you have to track your Adsense Clicks?
By tracking your Adsense clicks you can get plenty of information about visitors (you can track the visitor’s location down to small towns), you can find the page’s advertisement that was clicked. You can also get lot of additional information. If you track your Adsense clicks regularly you can find out if there are any fraud clicks, so that you can inform Google about it and safe guard your Adsense account from getting flagged.
How do you track Adsense Clicks?
I don’t think if there are other programs or services that let you to track Adsense clicks. If there are any such services, then they won’t provide you more accurate information than that got by using the below mentioned ways.
- Creating Custom Channels
- Via Google Analytics
Both above mentioned ways of tracking will give you the information a day later, but you will find it useful.
Creating Custom Channel
In your Adsense account go to My ads. If you want to add custom channel to an existing Adsense ad unit then click on the ad unit’s name to open the ads unit settings page. There you can find a Custom channel option, create a new custom channel using that option. Make sure you name the custom channel, such that it describes that unit’s position on your website (helps you to track without confusion).
While creating a new ad unit, there will be an option for adding a custom channel. Custom channels will be very useful, so don’t forget or hesitate to add custom channels to your ad units.
Whenever you go to Performance report –> Custom channel, you can get information on each custom channel (if you have added unique custom channels to each ad unit then it will be like getting information on each ad unit through custom channel’s name). You can find out how each ad unit works on your website. I mean, you can see how many impression each channel gets, and also you can see how many times it has been clicked.
So, you can use this for experimenting with Adsense ads to find out which unit size works well, and which position works better.
Tracking Via Google Analytics

To track your Adsense clicks using Google Analytics first you have to integrate your Adsense account with Analytics account. To do that, go to your Google Adsense Dashboard. There you can find a link that says “Integrate Adsense with your analytics account”
Click on that and follow the steps to complete your integration. When you are done, go to your Analytics account and go to Content –> Adsense to view the tracked information.
Analytics can give information like, nationality of the person who clicked on your ads, who referred him to your site, what was his landing page etc. It’s cool for experimenting with adsense. You should know how to use this information given by Analytics, so I recommend that you to play around with all the options to see what information you can get, and think about the ways to use the information for your Adsense Earning betterment.
I hope it will be helpful for new Adsense users
