Let’s face it – not everyone was born to write. Even if you are, it takes time to write like a pro. So whether you are a born writer who is just starting out or one who has been writing for years but still isn’t getting anywhere, here are some tips for you on how to write blog posts like a pro:

Tip #1: Get Good Sources Of Ideas

There are probably many occasions when you have no idea just what to write on but your blog needs some new posts, or else your readers might think that your blog is dead. Your post will sound ‘choked’ if you force yourself to come up with something just for the sake of writing something, so why not look for news or items that you would strongly feel about and thus can write a lot on?

Turn to social network sites such as Twitter and Facebook; there’s definitely something interesting that your friends would have posted there. Other blogs in your niche are also good sources of ideas. You could link them up and then post your views, whether you agree or not.

Tip #2: Make A Blogging Schedule

If you are serious about blogging, think of it as a job. Set a time for it and make sure that you stick to it.

You might have discovered that you write best in the evenings, so allocate an hour or two each day/week to write. Next, find a conducive environment for writing. If you write best in a cafe, then do so by all means. By optimizing the way you work, you will definitely produce better blog posts.

Tip #3: Vary Your Content Types

People like variety, so having long posts day after day might be boring after a while. If you come across quirky pictures or videos related to your niche, share them on your blog. It doesn’t have to be your views all the time; you could also post a piece of interesting news or an entry by a fellow blogger (with credits given, of course).

By having a variety of posts, you would also satiate the many types of fans that you have on your blog! Take my own blog for example, in between best WordPress themes reviews, I do write some other type of posts, such as top 10 WordPress themes in certain categories, WordPress tips and tricks, and web design articles.

Tip #4: Write With Conviction

Do you always use phrases such as “I think..”, “I believe..” or “In my opinion..”? These phrases are commonly used but are not recommended if you want to convince your readers. In fact, they give the impression that you are not confident enough in expressing your opinions. Do away with those phrases and simply keep things short and go straight to the point with what you want to say.

Tip #5: Proofread your Posts

You could have amazing contents and great arguments but those all fly out of the window if your articles are peppered with numerous grammatical and spelling errors.

No one would dare to take advice from someone who seems to have a poor grasp of language or worse, someone who doesn’t care enough to proofread his/her writing. If you are not confident enough of spotting mistakes, get someone to do it for you. There are various online proofreading services that you could seek out help from!

Tip #6: Just Be Yourself

Faking it takes you nowhere – you would sound unnatural and forced.

Just write on topics that you are passionate about but don’t sound smarter than you really are. Avoid using bombastic words or words that you don’t know the meanings. Don’t try to go into something that you have totally no idea about.

Great writing doesn’t come in a day. Many bloggers have abandoned their blogs because they do not know how to keep their fans engaged. But with the 6 writing tips above, you now know how to write better blog posts and with some practice, you would be able to write like a pro soon!
