Everyone loves a good value, that’s why we have things like “Value Buys”. So how does one get value from a blog post? You would probably answer “useful info”, “tips” and “latest news”, so that’s what the others are likely to say too. Therefore, give your readers value by incorporating these into our blog posts.
People will always love some hints and tips and will be back for more, unlike celebrity gossip or personal ramblings which will entirely bore people as they are simply worthless as they cannot relate to those personally. No disrespect intended.
You don’t need to be an expert to be able to add value to your blog posts. You’ll just need to know the five steps below and you’ll be able to convince your readers to come back for more ‘value’:

1. Give Hints And Tips
It has already been mentioned earlier that readers would love any hint or tip that can help them. Give advice based on your strength or forte. If you blog about fashion, then write a post about “5 fashion no-nos”. If it’s health or beauty that you constantly write about instead, tell your readers “6 ways to hide your tiredness” or “3 steps to looking radiant like a celebrity”. However, inject some variety and don’t always use similar-sounding titles.
2. Give Examples
It is sometimes difficult to picture things without an example given. For instance, if you just tell your readers to have 5 servings of food rich in beta-carotene daily, they might wonder “What is beta-carotene? How would I know if that food item has beta-carotene?”
People are not going to do homework online; it is likely that they’ll just ignore your advice altogether because people are sometimes simply lazy to Google. So after advising your readers to go for food rich in beta-carotene, tell
them that food such as carrots etc are packed with those nutrients!
3. Link To Other Articles
You are already providing value by giving some tips, so give even more by linking to a related article. One can never know enough, so by linking another post to yours, your readers will benefit better, you’ll network with other bloggers and they’ll be bound to return the favor someday too.
Of course, you can link to another post on your own blog too, this is called inter-linking.
4. Call For Action
You might already have made suggestions or recommendations, so that could be considered as a call for action, albeit a subtle one. It is best to conclude your article with clear instructions asking your readers to eat healthily, spend wisely, workout more frequently etc. Also, volunteer to be contacted for information, help or further advice. Your readers will get the feeling that you are indeed the expert in the field and are sincere to help.
5. Write In Layers
Tip #5 isn’t about the contents but rather, the style of writing. ‘Layers’ refer to the posts that are all correlated to one another. For instance, you could start off with “Should I buy a new car or a used car?” In the next post, you could talk about used cars and its pros and cons.
Subsequently, you can post about where is the best place to shop for cars, and so on. This way, your readers will get many ‘layers’ of information and also, they will be back for the next ‘layer’ because you would have asked them to stay tune for the next post with further details!
There are just so many things that you could add to your blog posts to give your readers the value they want. By the end of the day, it is the website hits or traffic that we want. As long as the readers benefit and are happy, they will be back for more.

Good post Jasmine, Yea, it is better to write one good post than write a dozen careless ones.
Very good tips. If your reader learns something, resolves a problem or reads something they find interesting and useful they are always more likely to return for more of the same.
Hi Jasmine, I’ve just read your article about value to our blog post. I want to ask one of this article point that is, you said link to others article links but you know people always like to get information from single website & if I posted others resources on my post then they will think that my article has not enough information regarding that issue. am I right? or share your experience.
I don’t think linking to other websites is a problem. Of course you only link to good websites which provide additional information, for example, you can link to Wikipedia, Matt Cutts, or TechCrunch.
These are authority websites with great resources. You will give your readers more value to read further at these other sites, because it will be hard for you to include the whole Wikipedia article on your own website, right?
Thanks for your comment.
Personally – when engaging with the audience it is a great way to increase exposure and offer more value at the same time. It also makes user want to return to your site or follow the RSS to keep up to date with recent comments etc. on your blog. Promotions is also been a great way to offer value. Maybe a writing contest to win a guest blogger spot on your website (Example)… There are many methods one can use to add more value to your blog and user experience.
Hi Anton, yes, there are so many ways we can use to add more value to our blogs. Your suggestions on writing contest is really good! Thanks.
Hi Jasmine, Good post, I am agreed with you that we can give link of Wikipedia like sites in our article for convenient of readers.
Hi Jasmine
I am always trying to write posts with tips and hints for my readers. If I write about something specific I think that it is important to show examples that are easy to follow to support my tips. Another thing I try to do is to link to external sources where my readers can find more in depth information about the topic.
I believe tips and hints articles are great to attract readers. This is because everybody wants to learn something new, or to know how to do or achieve something, so this type of articles should do great.
In my case, I always share web hosting tips, tricks and coupon codes to my readers.
Giving examples is a great thing because readers find it very easy in understanding the facts.
Nice post.
Nice tips…..writing in layers always make the article look nice and easier for the reader to understand it…..
Thanks for liking my tips, Janmejai.
This post is filled with good advice for bloggers– whether writing on your own blog, or here on Praveen’s…or anywhere else around the blogosphere for that matter. Good, engaging, and high quality content is more important now than it ever has been in the past. Your tips are just right…. I would add to break up big sections of text (which you obviously already do) and add images to make them more visually appealing.
Great post, as always, Jasmine!
Hi Denise,
Thank you so much for your input. Yes, you are definitely right. It’s a good idea to break up large chunk of text with images, or even just a simple horizontal line.
By the way, I am running a free web hosting giveaway, do hop over to my website and have a look. Cheers!
Ops, nearly forgot to put the free web hosting giveaway link

Good tips. In this age of ever increasing competition, adding value to your posts is the best way to stand out and get more patronization from readers.

Blog Post must be well written in bullets etc and also give examples which illustrate what you want to say.
